چکیده
1 of 2 DESCRIPTION A 74-year-old woman has visited to our hospital with general lassitude and appetite loss in October 2010. The patient had experienced abdominal pain for the past 2 months and had become aware of insidious weight loss of 5 kg in the last few months. The abdomen was fl at and soft, and bowel sounds were slightly hyperactive. There was no history of serious illnesses, operations or hospitalisations. Blood analyses showed a haemoglobin level of 9.2 g/dl, and biochemical analysis showed a serum lactate dehydrogenase level of 201 IU/l and an albumin level of 2.5 g/dl. CT revealed thickening of the wall in the small intestine without intestinal occlusion and lymphadenopathy of the mesenteric lymph nodes ( fi gure 1 ). The patient then underwent the lower double balloon enteroscopy, and revealed stenosis of the small intestine by using gastrografi n, though the lesion could not reached. The patient underwent partial resection of the small intestine and lymph node resection of the mesenteric lymph nodes. The pathological specimen showed diffuse mucosal infi ltration by slightly large neoplastic cells with round nuclei having a stippled chromatin pattern and villous atrophy around the anal side of the resected small intestine. The neoplastic cells expressed CD3, TIA-1 and granzyme B ( fi gure 2 ). These results suggested enteropathy-associated T cell lymphoma. Findings of the mesenteric lymph nodes Images in...

Hypocalcemia Revealing an Enteropathy-Associated T-cell Lymphoma
Background: Neurofollicular hamartoma (NFH) is characterized histopathologically by fascicles of spindle cells that laterally delimited by hyperplastic folliculosebaceous units. It usually appears on face, near the nose or nasolabial fold. It does not manifest true neural differentiation and recently the term spindle cell predominant trichodiscoma (SCPT) has been used instead. Case Presentatio...
متن کاملRefractory Celiac Disease
Refractory celiac disease (RCD) is when malabsorption symptoms and villous atrophy persist despite strict adherence to a gluten free diet (GFD) for more than 12 months and other causes of villous atrophy have been ruled out. RCD is considered a rare disease and almost exclusively occurs in adults. Persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight loss are the most common symptoms in RCD. Also, anemi...
متن کاملPleural lymphoma in a patient presenting with malabsorption: an illustration of the clinicopathological behaviour in a case of enteropathy associated T cell lymphoma.
A case of enteropathy associated T cell lymphoma (EATCL) is described, which was diagnosed by biopsy of a lymphomatous pleural mass. Retrospective radiological review showed that this lesion had been present when an initial diagnosis of coeliac disease had been made 12 months previously and a detailed description of the natural history of the lymphoma during this period was thus available. The ...
متن کاملEarly detection of intravascular large B-cell lymphoma by 18FDG-PET/CT with diffuse FDG uptake in the lung without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities
Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare and aggressive subtype of systemic extranodal non-Hodgkin diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). We report a rare case of IVLBCL who showed diffuse 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in the lung in FDG-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) without respiratory symptoms or chest CT abnormalities. Serum biochemical studies...
متن کاملType I enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma in the colon of a 29-year-old patient and a brief literature review.
Enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma (EATL) is a rare gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, originating from intraepithelial T-lymphocyte, which is specifically associated with celiac disease. EATL most commonly presents in the sixth and seventh decades of life. We report a unique case of type I EATL in the colon with liver metastasis, which was presented with nonspecific radiological find...
